COPS are on the hunt for would-be thieves following two daylight attempted break-ins in Renfrew.

The first incident happened at a property in Fulbar Street at 1.45pm on Monday. The suspect is thought to have been carrying a carrier bag with a rock in it which was used to smash a window.

The second incident happened in Kirklandneuk Crescent at 3.20pm, where damage was caused to the bottom panel of a door.

In both incidents, the suspect has been described as a man of medium build in his late 30s.

Inspector Jim Cast, based at Renfrew Police Office, said: "It is quite unusual for this to have occurred in the daytime, and I would like to remind residents to ensure their doors are locked securely during the day.

"If you do see anything suspicious, even if you're not sure, we would rather know and investigate."

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
