A BLOODSOAKED man was rushed to hospital after a terrifying machete attack in Johnstone.

The 41-year-old victim was pounced on by two thugs in the town's High Street at around 9.10am yesterday.

The man had to be rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where he received stitches to a cut below his left eye and had a wound near his left ear glued shut.

He has since been released from hospital.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is due to appear in Paisley Sheriff Court today.

Detectives say they are following a positive line of enquiry on the other suspect.
