HE'S used to sharing the screen with some of the biggest names in showbiz and is widely known as one of the hottest stars in Hollywood.

But even Richard Madden can't forget his days spent at school in Renfrewshire.

The Elderslie boy and former PACE Youth Theatre star took to Instagram to post an adorable throwback picture of him and mum Pat as he was preparing to set off for the village's Wallace Primary.

Madden, 33, posted: "#TBT to my first day of school. Equal measures of worry and attitude, not much changed since... Love you mum - STYLE! #fashionweek.

"(I’m wearing shorts I didn’t forget my trousers 😂)"

Madden, who now lives in Los Angeles and recently starred in the Elton John biopic Rocketman, later attended Castlehead High School in Paisley.

His Rocketman co-star Taron Egerton was one of the first to comment on Madden's throwback, writing: "Pat, the absolute gangster."

Madden has since appeared in Game of Thrones, Cinderella, Bodyguard, and is set to feature in Marvel's The Eternals with Angelina Jolie in 2020.

He has enjoyed a standout 2019 and as well as winning a Golden Globe for best actor for his role in the BBC drama, he received an honorary degree from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and later appeared on the cover of GQ Magazine.

But, he'll always be oor Richard.
