A conductor has been assaulted on a train travelling through Renfrewshire, causing disruption for passengers.

Officers were called to Paisley Gilmour Street station at 10.25am today.

ScotRail warned of delays after a "passenger disturbance" but later confirmed services had returned to normal.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police (BTP) said: "Officers quickly attended, however found no trace of the suspect.

"Inquiries are currently ongoing in the area."
