A PERVERT has admitted hoarding a vile stash of child abuse images at his village home.

Andrew Thomson, 37, downloaded a total of 1,429 illegal images on computer equipment also used by his mum and brother at the house they all shared in Wheatlands Drive, Kilbarchan.

Some of the files showed girls as young as two being raped.

Thomson’s warped desire to see kids being sexually abused led to his innocent brother, John, being arrested under suspicion of downloading illegal images.

The details emerged when Thomson appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court to admit his guilt.

Procurator fiscal depute Keri Marshall told the court that officers raided the family home at 8am on December 8, 2017.

She said: “The accused stated ‘this is nothing to do with my mum’ and the accused’s brother said ‘my mum’s innocent and I’m innocent and I’m waiting on a confession from him.’

“The accused and his brother were both detained and taken to Greenock police office.”

After seizing an Acer laptop, a hard drive and a tower computer, officers discovered Thomson had both pictures and videos that were banned.

Tests revealed it was Thomson who had used Google and other search engines on the computers the most and the court heard files were found in a folder named ‘LS Magazine,’ which is known to be associated with child sex abuse images.

He pleaded guilty to the two charges he faced – downloading child abuse files between May 5, 2016, and November 19, 2017, and possessing them between May 5, 2016, and December 8, 2017.

Defence solicitor Rhona Lynch told Sheriff Seith Ireland: “He fully appreciates the very serious charges to which he has pleaded guilty.”

Sheriff Ireland then called for background reports to be prepared ahead of sentencing.

He placed Thomson on the Sex Offenders’ Register and adjourned the case until December.
