Liberal Democrat hopeful Jack Clark has vowed to defend Scotland’s place in the UK and the European Union if he secures victory in Paisley and Renfrewshire South.
Although this will be his first time standing in a General Election, Mr Clark is no stranger to campaigning.
Since joining the Liberal Democrats in 2016, the student has stood for election on several occasions, both within the party with the Scottish Young Liberals and as a candidate for Renfrewshire Council.
Originally hailing from the Borders, Mr Clark now lives in Renfrewshire and is currently in his fourth year at the University of the West of Scotland, where he is studying Society, Politics and Policy.
He believes that Scotland should remain a member of both the UK and the EU and will make the case throughout his campaign that “unions do work.”
Another issue he wants to bring to the fore in this election campaign is climate change.
And, as a passionate advocate of the environment and conservation, he feels his party is best placed to tackle such issues.
He told The Gazette: “One of the main reasons I joined the Scottish Liberal Democrats was the party’s opposition to fracking and its ambitious position on addressing the climate emergency.”
