TSB's Barrhead branch will be the first in Scotland to be axed after the bank confirmed its closure in April next year.

It's one of 82 branches across the UK that will close its doors throughout 2020 with an estimated 370 jobs said to be affected.

The branch at Cross Arthurlie Street will be the first of 17 in Scotland to be shut.

The bank in Clarkston's Busby Road is another location facing the chop. It will close in July 2020.

Robin Bulloch, Customer Banking Director at TSB, said: “We have made the difficult decision to close some of our quieter branches and will fully support customers through this transition.

“We realise this is difficult news for our branch partners and will do everything to support those affected to redeploy as many people as we can to other roles and keep compulsory redundancies to a minimum.”
