A MAN was feared dead after being found unconscious in a Barrhead street.
Police were called to Ralston Road on Friday night to investigate a report that a man lying there was "unresponsive."
The street was cordoned off and he was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, for treatment.
Officers have since confirmed the 44-year-old man was suffering from a suspected drug overdose.
A member of the public raised the alarm after seeing the man slumped on the pavement, near to the Arthurlie Social Club.
A police spokesperson said: "The area was preserved as a precaution while a medical update was carried out."
Hospital staff later advised police that the man's condition was not life threatening.
