A MAN has been arrested in connection with an incident in East Renfrewshire last night which left a woman suffering from serious injuries.
The 41-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after the incident was reported to police at 10.05pm.
Officers remain at the scene in Castle Road, Newton Mearns, which has been taped off while an investigation continues.
A police spokesperson told the Barrhead News: "At around 10.05pm last night, a 41-year-old woman suffered serious injuries within a house in Castle Road, in Newton Mearns.
"She was conveyed to hospital for treatment and her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
"An ambulance came straight away when the report was made and paramedics assessed the woman there.
"Enquiries are currently ongoing."
