AN Erskine rugby fan was given an early Christmas present when a Scottish legend gave him a lift to a game.
Glasgow Warriors fan Eric Graham was rewarded for his commitment to the club with a surprise pick-up from Gavin Hastings.
Hastings is widely regarded to be one of the best ever Scottish rugby players, winning 61 caps for his nation, 20 of which as captain.
He also captained the British and Irish Lions during a 1993 tour of New Zealand.
But, he was on hand to take Eric to see his beloved Warriors play at Scotstoun.
On arrival, the 59 year-old was provided with a behind the scenes tour of the stadium by Hastings’ son and Glasgow stand-off, Adam, before being presented with a signed Glasgow Warriors shirt by head coach Dave Rennie.
Eric said: “I was totally taken aback when Gavin Hastings walked through the door of my house.
"To have a legend like him in my living room, and then drive me to the match while we reminisced about great rugby memories is something I will never forget.
"It was such a special day and I was absolutely honoured to be given the experience.”
The special treat was arranged courtesy of Glasgow Warriors' Official Vehicle Partner, Land Rover.
Gavin Hastings, former full-back and Land Rover ambassador, said: “It was a pleasure to meet Eric and chew the fat about our memories and experiences of years gone by.
"His passion and commitment in supporting Glasgow Warriors over many years is fantastic to see.
"I am delighted he enjoyed his experience; he absolutely deserves it.”
