A LINWOOD school has been praised by education inspectors for reducing the attainment gap.
Education Scotland highlighted how staff at Our Lady of Peace Primary and Nursery Class were taking steps to reduce the gap in achievement between children from deprived communities and those from more affluent ones.
The watchdog noted the key strengths of the school were its welcoming ethos and the willingness of staff to embrace learning opportunities.
It stated: “Children in the early learning class are happy and keen to engage with their learning through play, particularly when learning outdoors.
“At the primary stages, children are keen to learn and articulately discuss their school life.
“Staff are increasingly committed to engaging in leadership activities to improve experiences for children.
“The headteacher’s awareness of and use of data to plan more effective learning experiences for children is leading to more appropriate interventions being introduced.”
Inspectors have asked the school to review its curriculum to ensure kids experience the same depth of learning in all areas.
