TWO fed-up commuters jumped out of the emergency doors of a train which was stuck at Elderslie.
Alan McShane and Mary Wark couldn’t be bothered waiting for the train to continue its journey after a points fault led to a delay.
They opened the emergency doors and jumped off, before trying to gain access to a nearby cycle track.
The details emerged when McShane, 38, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court in connection with the drama, which took place on June 1 last year.
Wark, 35, was previously fined after admitting her guilt.
McShane, who lived in Calderpark Street, Lochwinnoch, at the time but now lives with Wark in Kilbirnie, pleaded guilty to breaking the British Transport Commission Act 1949.
Procurator fiscal depute Laura Wilcox told the court that, at around 6pm, there was a fault with mechanical systems that move the switches and crossings on tracks.
After McShane and Wark had opened the train’s doors, the driver reported them as trespassers.
Sheriff Colin Pettigrew fined McShane £300, reduced from £450 as he admitted his guilt.
