COPS are on the hunt for a gang after a Renfrewshire home was ransacked in a daylight raid.

A group of thugs forced their way into a house in Cunningham Gardens, Houston, yesterday.

The crooks made-off with a three-figure sum of cash, as well as jewellery and an unknown number of personal possessions during the raid, which happend at some point between 3pm and 6pm.

Police have said the men may be linked to two other incidents which took place several miles away during the same time period.

Home owners in Renfrew's Rothesay Crescent and Tylney Road, in Paisley, reported to officers they had been approached by a group of suspicious men.

On those two occasions, the men were denied access to the homes and fled the scene.

Officers say they are still working to determine the exact timeline of the three events and are not ruling out the possibility they may all be linked.

In the meantime, detectives investigating the three incidents are warning people to be wary of anyone who approaches their door to offer services.

A spokesperson said:  "We want to remind people to be wary of workmen going door-to-door in the area.

"Please do not be afraid to challenge them and to always make sure they have all of the appropriate credentials.

"We would also ask people to keep an eye for their neighbours, especially if they are getting work done."

If you can help, call the police on 101. Alternatively, ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be passed on anonymously.
