RENFREWSHIRE star Shereen Nanjiani picked up an MBE from Buckingham Palace yesterday.
The Elderslie-born radio presenter accepted the honour from Prince Charles for her services to broadcasting at the Palace's official investiture ceremony.
She has been working in the industry for 37 years, presenting her first STV news bulletin in 1987.
Shereen was the first Asian newsreader in Scotland and presented STV's flagship news programme, Scotland Today, for over two decades.
She said when the award was announced: "Part of me thinks I shouldn’t get an honour just for doing my job- there are plenty more deserving candidates- but I like to think this is also for the many people from ethnic minority backgrounds who’ve told me that seeing an Asian face presenting the Scottish TV news opened the door for them to pursue a career in the media."
Most recently, the Glasgow University graduate presents Shereen on BBC Radio Scotland, a talk show looking at the week's top news stories.
