POLICE are hunting a knife-wielding thug who tried to rob a Renfrewshire off-licence last night.
The crook entered Gallowhill Licensed Grocers, in Gallowhill Road, Paisley, at around 6.15pm and demanded money from the 39-year-old shopkeeper.
However, after being challenged by the brave store boss, the raider fled the scene empty-handed, making off in the direction of Marjory Drive.
Police said the shopkeeper was left shaken by the incident and received treatment for a minor injury.
The suspect is described as slim and around 5ft 10ins tall. At the time, he was wearing dark clothing, with a scarf covering his face.
Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to call them on 101.
