DRAMATIC footage showed a car submerged in water as flooding continues to wreak havoc across Renfrewshire.

The video was taken in Lochlip Road, Lochwinnoch, and photos shared with The Gazette also show flooding in the Howwood area.

Flood alerts has been issued by SEPA for across western and central Scotland, with prolonged periods of rain expected over the next 24 hours.

The MET office has issued a yellow warning for rain until 9pm today and warns: “Heavy rain may lead to some travel disruption and local flooding.”

It is predicted spray and flooding on roads may make journey times longer and it is likely there will be flooding of some homes and businesses.

Flooding was reported across Renfrewshire last weekend when the season's second storm wreaked havoc. 

The Renfrew Ferry was forced to cancel its services last Saturday after the River Clyde burst its banks.

Strong gusty winds are predicted for Renfrewshire from 6am until 10pm tomorrow, with more travel disruption expected.
