GOLFERS are ready to swing into action and save lives, thanks to a new defibrillator.
Fereneze Golf Club is the latest Barrhead-based community organisation to support a high-profile campaign by the Levern Valley Defibrillator Community Partnership to have the lifesaving devices installed across town.
Chris Hughes, from the partnership, formally handed over the defibrillator to club captain Bert Holt.
Mr Holt told the Barrhead News: “We hope never to have the need to use this defibrillator but having it installed at the club means we can potentially make the difference in helping to save a life, if it does get called into use.”
The club, with more than 100 years of history, has a growing membership as it promotes the sport to people of all ages, but particularly children and young adults.
Health studies have shown that patients with heart disease or respiratory conditions can find meaningful improvements in fitness, muscle strength and happiness through golf.
The sport is even prescribed by the NHS in parts of England.
