A PENSIONER remains in hospital after being struck by a car outside a fire station.

The 74-year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, following a horror incident in Paisley Road yesterday.

She is understood to be in a serious condition although officers say her injuries are not life-threatening.

It is understood the pensioner was hit by a car after stepping out onto the road at around 11.55am near the busy Paisley Road and Porterfield Road junction.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and closed off the road while the victim received treatment, before she was later taken to the Glasgow hospital.

Police say enquiries are ongoing into the incident and have asked anyone to contact them on 101.
