SMILES will be brighter for children at a Bishopton nursery after they paid a special visit to a dental surgery.

Staff at Bishopton Dental Clinic welcomed youngsters from Cairellot Nursery for an afternoon of fun that also taught them about the importance of good oral hygiene.

The children spent some time in the dentist’s chair, trying out the equipment and looking at each other’s teeth, in the hope that future visits would be something they look forward to.

A learning prop, in the form of a toy dinosaur, was used to demonstrate how to clean teeth properly, making sure the youngsters knew how often they should be brushing.

The children finished off the afternoon by getting their faces painted.

Craig MacDougall, who works as a dentist at the Bishopton clinic, told The Gazette: “We welcome children of all ages and look forward to being part of their oral hygiene journey.

“No child is too young to be seen by a dentist and we strongly encourage that children are taught the importance of looking after their teeth from a young age. It’s essential for them to develop a good oral health routine, so that less problems arise as they get older.”
