A SPURNED policeman who stalked his ex-partner and threatened to send intimate photos to her new boyfriend has been spared jail.

Nicholas De Juliis, 42, bombarded the woman with hundreds of unwanted texts, phone calls and emails.

The pair had been together for almost seven years before going their separate ways.

De Juliis, who was a special constable with Police Scotland, suddenly began contacting her more than two years after the split and was fixated about her new relationship.

He threatened to disclose intimate messages and photos of the woman to her new boyfriend and told her he knew where the man stayed.

In one message, he sent a photo of her current partner with the caption ‘Look at him, seriously is that what your standards are now?’

The woman repeatedly begged De Juliis, who also works in banking, to stop but he continued to pester her until she eventually blocked his phone number and contacted police.

De Juliis, of Renfrew, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted stalking his former partner between April and August 2018.

He was ordered to carry out 108 hours of unpaid work by Sheriff Linda Nicolson, who also granted a non-harassment order barring him from contacting the woman for the next three years.

Depute fiscal Jennifer McCabe said: “The accused and the complainer were in a relationship from September 2009 to February 2016 and contact continued but did become less frequent until it stopped in the autumn of 2017. There was no contact from the accused until the complainer received some from the accused in 2018.

“He contacted the complainer five times by phone on the 29th of April and thereafter the complainer received in excess of 350 iMessages between June 2018 and August 2018 on her personal mobile phone number.”

She added: “The accused threatened to show her current partner messages that were of an intimate nature. The texts fixated on her current partner and her relationship with him.”

De Juliis previously boasted online about his role as a special constable with experience in response policing, hostile situations and first aid.

A police spokeswoman confirmed De Juliis is no longer employed by the force.
