A PENSIONER is in hospital after being hit by a car on a busy Johnstone road. 

The 75-year-old man was rushed to Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital following the accident at Thornhill at around 4.35pm on Friday. 

Police say a Mercedes car driven by a 60-year-old man was involved. 

Medics described the victim's condition as "stable" and police have now launched an appeal for information. 

Constable Steven Kirkwood, based at Renfrew Police Office, said: “Our enquiries are continuing into this crash and I would appeal to any witnesses or anyone who was driving on the road at the time who has dash-cam to contact us, as they may have information that will assist our ongoing investigation.

“Information can be passed to Renfrew Police Office through 101, quoting reference number 2434 of Friday, 20 March.”
