A RENFREWSHIRE charity has launched an urgent recruitment drive in a bid to continue supporting vulnerable people during the coronavirus pandemic.

Bosses at Bridge of Weir-based Quarriers have said the need for immediate recruitment has increased as Covid-19 continues to cause "challenging circumstances" for existing staff and volunteers, as well as those they support.

The leading social care charity needs to fill a range of full-time and part-time positions, as well as bringing in more volunteers to help with tasks such as shopping, cooking or cleaning.

Quarriers is currently offering short-term contracts, from one to three months, or relief work. This is with a view to positions being made permanent once the pandemic is over, if the candidate still wants a permanent role at that stage.

Alice Harper, chief executive officer at Quarriers, said: “We know this is a very difficult and challenging time and that many people in a range of sectors, including retail, hospitality and leisure, have been impacted.

“We have a range of vacancies across Scotland, with a mix of full-time, part-time and short-term contracts on offer. A number of the available positions offer an immediate start and we would urge anyone who feels suited to the roles to get in touch.

“The top priority for Quarriers is to ensure we maintain the highest levels of service for those that we care for – and our staff are of vital importance in delivering this essential care.

"We hope this recruitment drive provides a positive opportunity for both those we support and those who may be affected in the current climate.”
