A THUG who smashed up his ex-lover’s flat wished a "horrific cancer" on the family of police who arrested him.

Renfrewshire man David McShane, 34, claimed he was only having a "domestic" when he was held by officers in February this year.

He flew into a rage at the home of 32-year-old Patricia McKinley.

McShane then confronted PC Jack McDonald and PC Ryan Mitchell, with one of the officers ending up tumbling down a set of stairs.

He went on to scream at them: "I hope both your wife and kids both die of a horrific cancer.”

McShane today admitted two charges of acting in a threatening and abusive manner.

He had appeared from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court but, despite then admitting to the crimes, he was granted bail.

McShane, of Windsor Crescent, Paisley, is due to be sentenced in May.

The court heard he had been in a relationship with Ms McKinley for a year when they split in January.

Loud banging could be heard coming from Miss McKinley's home in the Govan area of Glasgow on the day of the incidents.

McShane also yelled: "Call the f*****g police then."

When officers turned up, they found Miss McKinley sobbing. A television was smashed and there was glass strewn in her home.

McShane swore at the constables as he was hauled away.

He kicked out at PC McDonald and PC Mitchell also fell down five stairs during the incident.

It was soon after this that he made the sick "cancer" comment.

Des Ziolo, defending, told the court McShane’s conduct was “deplorable.”

He added that Miss McKinley has remained in contact with McShane and visited him in prison.

Sheriff Brian Murphy deferred sentencing for background reports.
