POLICE are hunting for a thief with red trainers who grabbed an OAP's purse in broad daylight.

The 77-year-old had stopped while in Fulbar Street, Renfrew, and while she had her purse out, the man walked past her and grabbed it.

There was no struggle or violence to the victim, who then made her way to a neighbouring premises who called police. She was left shaken by the ordeal.

Her purse was found nearby by officers and only £20 in cash had been taken.

The incident happened around 12.10pm on Tuesday, March 31.

The suspect was described as being a 6ft-tall white male, wearing a black puffer jacket, black joggers and red trainers.

Police appealed for witnesses and any drivers who may have dashcam footage from the area. They are also checking CCTV nearby to locate the thief.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident #1251 of March 31 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
