The man tried to steal a car from Kirtle Drive, in Renfrew
A RENFREW couple was forced to chase away a would-be car thief after they spotted him trying to nab their motor.
The pair were sitting in their Kirtle Drive home on Saturday morning when they heard the engine of the vehicle revving at around 4am.
The man went out to confront the crook, who sprinted off in the direction of Dean Park Road and escaped.
Cops were called to the scene and searched the area but found no trace of the would-be car thief.
He is described as a white man, around five foot 10 inches, slim build, and was wearing a blue hooded jacket at the time.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them on 101.
