A 66-year-old man has died following a blaze at a Barrhead care home.
Emergency services were called to Parkhouse Manor Care Home at around 8pm last night after reports of a fire.
Police have confirmed that a man was pronounced dead at the scene and a joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is now underway.
Detective Sergeant Emma Patrick, of Greater Glasgow CID, said: “Around 8.10pm on Wednesday, officers were called to a nursing home in the Parkhouse Road area following reports of a fire.
“A 66-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and our thoughts are with his family at this time.
“A joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will be carried out to establish the full circumstances.”
