The number of people diagnosed with coronavirus in Greater Glasgow and Clyde has increased by 85 in 24 hours.

As it stands, the number of those confirmed to have the virus in the region is currently 1251.

The figures come part of the Scottish Government's 2pm daily update, where it was also revealed 563 people are currently receiving treatment in hospitals across the city.

Of these, 64 are in intensive care units. 

Since March 16, a total of 122 deaths in Glasgow have been registered due to coronavirus. 

Glasgow continues to surpass other regions with the number of positive tests of COVID-19.

Following is Lothian, where they have recorded a total of 747 people who have tested positive.

These figures come 100 days after the first case of coronavirus broke out in the city of Wuhan in China. 

During the Scottish Parliament Leaders’ Virtual Question Time earlier this afternoon, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon highlighted lives have been have “transformed in ways that would have been unimaginable just a few weeks ago”.

She said: “This virtual session of FMQs might, in the scheme of things, seem like a relatively minor example of that, but it is a striking example of that.”

The First Minister announced a further 392 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 from yesterday's figures, brining the Scottish total to 4,957. 

With sadness, she also told how a further 81 people have died within one day due to the virus, brining the Scottish death toll to 447.

Across Scotland, 1781 people are currently receiving treatment in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus, of this figure, 212 people are within intensive care units. 

Nicola Sturgeon said that there is no likelihood of the prospect of lockdown measures being lifted before Easter weekend, where she added the measures will be in place "for weeks to come."
