A JOHNSTONE man diagnosed with hepatitis is accused of spitting on a police officer’s face.

Grant Scott, 41, allegedly assaulted Constable Steven Leonard at Glasgow’s Helen Street Police Office in October 2018.

Prosecutors claim Scott exposed PC Leonard to “risk of infection and disease, to his injury.”

Scott also faces a second charge of failing to appear at a Glasgow Sheriff Court hearing in November last year.

A hearing today was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Instead, the case was dealt with administratively and a new hearing date is set for June this year.

Scott, who was not in attendance, has made no plea to the charges and remains on bail meantime.
