POLICE are hunting two thugs after an attack on a shop worker in Johnstone last night.

The yobs were refused entry to the Johnstone Licensed Grocers, in Quarry Street, at around 8.15pm and became involved in a heated argument with the 21-year-old son of the shopkeeper.

One of them then hit the worker with a metal pole used to close the shop shutters before fleeing the scene, leaving the victim bleeding from a head wound.

He admitted himself to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, and was later released.

Police believe the two suspects are regular customers at the shop and footage from CCTV cameras is being reviewed as part of an investigation.

The yob who assaulted the victim is described as slim and around 5ft 9ins tall, with short, dark brown hair. At the time, he was wearing a blue hooded top, dark grey jogging bottoms and blue trainers.

The other man was wearing a white hooded top and light grey jogging bottoms.

Anyone who can help the police with their investigation is asked to call officers on 101.
