POLICE are hunting a yob who spat at a district nurse while she was carrying out her duties as a frontline worker in Johnstone.

The 56-year-old woman was visiting a patient when the thug confronted her over a car parking issue in Tannahill Crescent at around 9am on Friday.

The man then spat in her direction, with police particularly concerned this took place at a time when the Covid-19 virus can be transmitted through respiratory droplets.

A spokesperson said: “Officers in Johnstone received reports that a woman had been assaulted on Tannahill Crescent around 9am on Friday.

“She was uninjured during the incident.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101.
