A MAN has been arrested after allegedly assaulting two police officers in Lochwinnoch.

Police traced a 29-year-old suspect in Calder Street at around 5.30pm on Saturday after he had reportedly smashed the windows of a house.

The man then allegedly lunged at the two officers and threw one of them to the ground.

He was quickly restrained by officers from a police unit nearby and taken into custody.

A police spokesperson said the man was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court this week.
