POLICE have appealed for information after number plates were stolen from vehicles parked in Renfrew.

The incident was reported to police after a woman observed three men attempting to remove a registration plate from a vehicle outside her home, in Dunlop Crescent, at around 1.20am on Tuesday.

Cops believe the suspects realised they had been spotted, as the number plates were soon recovered nearby.

Anyone who can help the police with their investigation is asked to call officers on 101.
