POLICE have appealed for information after a woman assaulted a man during a row about litter.

The 56-year-old victim was walking his dog in Beith Road, near Johnstone High School, at around 11.20pm on Wednesday, May 27, when he spotted rubbish being thrown out of a car window.

The man, who had been picking up litter on the footpath, challenged a woman who was sitting in the car.

She then left the vehicle and grabbed the victim by his jacket before issuing threats.

Police said the man was not injured but was left badly shaken by the incident.

Witnesses and anyone else who has information are asked to call officers on 101.
