POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a red Ford Focus was discovered on fire in Johnstone.

Emergency services who rushed to the scene in Auchenlodment Road at around 9.55pm on Friday found the parked vehicle well ablaze.

Police have confirmed they are treating the incident as wilful fireraising.

Sergeant Barry McNaught, of Renfrewshire's community policing team, told The Gazette: “The car was parked on the layby of a well-driven road, so we are keen to hear from anyone who may have driven past the car and noticed anyone acting suspiciously near the vehicle on Friday evening.”
