A patient has been arrested after an A&E doctor was attacked twice in a Glasgow hospital.
Dr Claire McGroarty, a trauma doctor at the Queen Elizabeth University hospital, said in an emotive Twitter post that she had been verbally and physically assaulted by the patients on a Saturday night.
She wrote: "Lockdown restrictions eased on Friday.
"On Saturday I was verbally and physically assaulted by patients twice under the influence of alcohol.
"This wasn't acceptable pre COVID, it certainly isn't acceptable now."
The doctor has acted as a medical advisor on the time travelling drama Outlander.
NHSGGC said one individual involved had been arrested and was due in court today.
A health board spokeswoman added: "NHSGGC has as a strict zero tolerance stance towards violence and aggression against our staff who are entitled to work free of threats, assaults and intimidation.
"All our staff deserve basic courtesy and respect and to be able to work without fear of intimidation, abuse or violence and we fully encourage and support staff in their pursuit of taking the perpetrators of violence against them through the justice system."
