Celtic are monitoring £1.4m rated defender Pawel Dawidowicz of Hellas Verona.

The Polish centre-half has starred 14 times this season in Serie A and is currently preparing for a return to action when the Italian top tier makes a comeback on June 20. Dawidowicz, 25, scored his only goal of the campaign against Lecce back in January.

Celts would need to stump up some cash in a bid to lure Dawidowicz - who can also play as a central defensive midfielder - to Scotland, with his contract not up until June, 2022.

The interest from Scotland's champions coincides with the departure of Jozo Simunovic earlier this week. The Hoops opted not to take the option of a further year on the Croatian star's contract and are now on the lookout for a replacement.

Dawidowicz would provide competition for Celtic's other two central defenders in Christopher Jullien and Kris Ajer.

He counts Lechia Gdansk and Palermo among his previous clubs. His one Polish cap came in a friendly against Czech Republic back in 2015.
