A MAN has been arrested after allegedly stealing a car and then pinching items from a house in Linwood.
Police were alerted at around 5.30pm on Monday when a 20-year-old worker at the Lidl store in Renfrew Road, Paisley, discovered her blue Fiat 500 was missing from the car park.
She used a vehicle tracking app on her phone and was able to tell officers that her car appeared to be in Napier Street, Linwood.
When police arrived in Napier Street half an hour later, they spotted a suspect removing goods from a house.
It's understood a 69-year-old woman who was at home at the time was unaware this was happening.
The suspect was allegedly seen putting the items into the boot of the stolen car but then ran away as the police approached.
He was arrested after a short chase.
It is claimed he then refused to take a breath test and damaged a police car by repeatedly kicking its windows.
A police spokesperson said a 32-year-old man has been charged with four offences and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
