A CHILD was rushed to hospital on Monday after being injured in a road accident in Johnstone.

Police said the six-year-old boy was struck by a motorbike after he walked on to the road in Greenend Avenue at around 5.30pm.

It is believed the youngster, who was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children, in Glasgow, suffered a broken leg.

Police have said officers will be hosting road safety initiatives with local primary pupils once schools reopen.
