POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was attacked in her Linwood home by an intruder.

Two women, aged 26 and 54, discovered two men in their living room at around 12.10am on Sunday, after returning from a small gathering they had hosted outside the property in Erskinefauld Road.

Both men were wearing dark clothing, with one of the thugs holding a baseball bat and the other wielding a meat cleaver.

The 26-year-old woman attempted to usher the two strangers out of the house but they started to become abusive towards her.

One of the yobs then punched the woman on the face but she was not injured.

Following the assault, both men left the property and fled the scene in a car.

Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to call them on 101.
