A MAN has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon after police were called to a disturbance in Johnstone.

The 28-year-old suspect was allegedly swinging a large metal dog lead above his head and challenging members of the public to fight him in the town’s High Street on Friday.

Following a short chase, he was arrested by police at around 11.25am and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
