IT'S taken a few months but music fans have had to come to terms with the fact there will be no TRNSMT this year.

Safety comes first, quite rightly, with the Coronavirus pandemic but that doesn't stop us festival fans hankering for three-days of the best live music in the Glasgow Green.

The new festival hailed as the replacement for T in the Park took up residency at the Glasgow Green to entertain thousands of music fans in 2017 and promises to return next year.

But during that time, it has never failed to not make the headlines, so here we look back on some of TRNSMT'S most iconic moments last year.

Glasgow Times:

1. When Stormzy was given a police escort to make his headlining performance in time...

His flight to Glasgow was held up and Stormzy knew he had a date with his Scottish fans he had to keep.

Step in Police Scotland's finest who used their powers last year to clear traffic at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for Stormzy to close the festival in time.

Prior to making the show, the popular British rapper said: "Man’s going up in the f*****g world! We’ve got the f*****g police escorting.

“Man is the Queen. I’m coming like the f*****g Queen. This is gangster.”

Glasgow Times:

2. When Robert Carlyle showed up at TRNSMT

The Trainspotting actor was spotted watching Lewis Capaldi last year on the main stage at the festival.

Talk about a superstar fan!

Glasgow Times:

3. When Joey Essex made a surprise appearance

Former TOWIE star Joey appeared at TRNSMT last year as part of a McDonald's promotion.

But his appearance sent Scottish fans into a frenzy who queued up in their droves for selfies.

4. The landmark takeover

We have all been there at the end of a festival, you are shattered and sad.

But the TRSNMT team knew how to lift spirits when they took over city landmarks including Glasgow's McLennan Arch and Trongate Clock Tower to confirm 2020 dates.

Glasgow Times:

5. Don't Chewback in Anger

Last year, Lewis Capaldi owned his legendary status at TRNSMT by having another dig at Noel Gallagher.

Not only did the bold as brass Scot appear on-stage with a Star Wars Chewbacca mask on his face, but he also went on to cover the classic Oasis track Don’t Look Back in Anger.

He even called it Don’t Chewback in Anger and dedicated it to his ‘dad’ Noel.

6. Richard Ashcroft's on-stage tribute to the Barrowland Ballroom

The Verve frontman performed his TRNSMT set while wearing at Barrowland t-shirt.

The singer then said: “I just want to say how proud I am to be in the Barrowlands Hall of Fame. One of the greatest music cities in the world.”
