ONE of the busiest stretches of road in Renfrewshire will be closed at various times next week so that resurfacing work can be carried out.

Motorists will be asked to follow diversions as a 570m stretch of the A737 is shut between Linwood and the Barrochan Road junction leading into Johnstone.

Overnight closures will be in place on Monday, July 27, Tuesday, July 28, and Wednesday, July 29, between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s principal roads design engineer, said: “This is an important section of the trunk road network and, as such, is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working.

"It is vital that we resurface this area in order to maintain road safety. Traffic volumes are still lower than usual and the programme can therefore be carried out safely and with a reduced impact.”

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys while following the diversion route.
