THREE people have been charged with drink-driving offences after separate incidents across Renfrewshire at the weekend.

On Friday night, police received several reports of a silver Dacia Sandero being driven erratically in Johnstone.

At around 11.30pm, the driver allegedly lost control of the car and crashed into a parked vehicle in Graham Street.

The car then overturned and came to a rest on its roof in the middle of the road.

Police and a crew from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service went to the scene, where a 27-year-old woman had been able to free herself from the vehicle.

It is alleged she was found to be three times over the drink-drive limit.

She was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, where she received stitches to a cut on her forearm before being released back into police custody.

At around 8.15pm on Saturday, officers received a report of another road accident after the driver of a black Hyundai ploughed into a lamppost in Cockels Loan, Renfrew.

The 47-year-old man was unhurt but was allegedly found to be twice over the legal alcohol limit after two failed breath tests.

Police said the lamppost was destroyed, with several thousands of pounds worth of damage caused.

Then, on Sunday night, a man was reported to the police for allegedly being drunk and abusive to staff at the Gleddoch Hotel, in Langbank, after they refused to serve him more alcohol.

The hotel guest reportedly drove off in his white BMW X4 before later arriving back at the hotel with booze in his possession.

He was promptly arrested and it is alleged that, after being taken to a police station, was found to be three times over the drink-drive limit.

All three suspects were released on an undertaking and are due to appear in court at a later date.
