POLICE are appealing for information following several attempted break-ins across Renfrewshire at the weekend.

An 82-year-old woman contacted the police on Saturday after she discovered that a porch door at her home in Quarrelton Road, Johnstone, had been targeted during the night.

Police said garden shears and other equipment appear to have been stolen.

Officers were also called to a house in nearby Park Road at around 3am on Saturday after a couple heard noises outside.

When police arrived at the scene, there was no sign of the culprit but, the following day, it was discovered that a lock on the couple’s garden shed had been damaged.

Meanwhile, a thief targeted Renfrewshire Foodbank at around 12.40am on Sunday.

An alarm was activated at the hub in Porterfield Road, Renfrew, where it was found a window at the rear of the building had been smashed and a pallet placed next it in a bid to gain entry.

A police spokesperson said CCTV footage from the area shows a man trying to force open the front door.

Enquiries are ongoing to confirm if anything has been stolen.

Residents are being advised to ensure their property, including garages and sheds, is locked at all times to deter thieves.

Anyone who has information about any of these crimes is asked to call the police on 101.
