POLICE are on the trail of two Renfrew youths who have been racially abusing a family from the Philippines.
In the latest incident, the 45-year-old father was walking with his wife and children when the two boys confronted them on a footpath next to Victoria Drive at around 3.55pm on Tuesday.
One of the youths then spat on the ground directly in front of the victim in an attempt to elicit a reaction from him.
Police said the two boys have been shouting at the family and putting on mock Chinese accents to upset them for several weeks.
The youths, both believed to be 12-years-old, are described as white and around 5ft 2ins tall. One has short black hair and the other has ginger hair.
Inspector Allan O’Hare, head of community policing for Renfrewshire, said: "This behaviour is not acceptable and we are very keen to trace the youths responsible.
"We do not tolerate hate crime in any shape or form, and I would ask any parents who have children around this age and live in the area to question them and ask if are involved or know who is involved."
Witnesses and anyone else who has information are asked to call officers on 101.
