POLICE are hunting two youths who attacked a man in front of his family in Johnstone.

The 48-year-old victim had been walking with his wife and children at a cycle track near Barrochan Road at around 2.45pm on Sunday.

Two teenage boys, believed to be aged between 14 and 15, had been speeding back and forth next to the family on a mini-motorbike.

When the dad challenged the yobs for using a motorbike on the cycle path, one of them responded by striking him in the face.

Both boys then fled the scene, heading in the direction of Linwood.

The victim was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, where he received stitches in a cut above his eye.

Police said the boy who was steering the motorbike is described as around 5ft 8ins tall, with dark brown hair. At the time, he was wearing a dark blue jacket with a chequered scarf and baseball cap.

Inspector Allan O’Hare, head of community policing for Renfrewshire, said: “If anybody has seen these youths on the cycle track at this time or has any information about this incident, please get in touch with us.”
