A CHILD was taken to hospital on Thursday after being injured in a road accident in Linwood.
Police said the 10-year-old girl was almost run over by a car after her bicycle went under the wheel of the vehicle in Clippens Road at around 6pm.
It is thought she had been trying to cross the road when the car clipped her bike after exiting Erskinefauld Road.
The driver then reportedly accelerated, which caused the car to mount a pavement on the other side of the road.
Police said the girl suffered minor injuries to her leg and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, where she received treatment and was later released.
A 50-year-old man has been charged with careless driving and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
