A MAN who suffered serious injuries during a disturbance in Johnstone earlier this month has died.

Ross Docherty, 33, was found by officers within a property in Macdowall Street on the afternoon of Sunday, September 13, and was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow.

Medics initially described the condition of Mr Docherty, from Linwood, as “critical but stable.”

However, police have now confirmed that he has died.

Martin Docherty, 36, appeared in court last week in connection with the police investigation after he was charged with committing an assault in Johnstone.

He made no plea to a charge of assault to severe injury and danger of life when he appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Docherty, of Johnstone, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

A police spokesperson told The Gazette: “The 33-year-old man who died can be named as Ross Docherty, from Linwood.”
