POLICE are hunting a yob who attacked an 11-year-old boy as he was walking to school in Bishopton.

The young victim was in Greenock Road when he became aware he was being followed by an older boy, who was not wearing school uniform, at around 9am on Thursday, September 17.

The thug proceeded to push and punch the boy, before squirting liquid from a small bottle of hand sanitiser over his backpack.

After returning home, the boy told his parents about the attack and they contacted the police.

Officers said the victim was not injured but was left badly shaken by what happened.

The suspect, believed to be aged between 12 and 14, is described as around 5ft 1in tall and was wearing dark clothing at the time.

Inspector Allan O’Hare, head of community policing for Renfrewshire, said: “If anybody has witnessed this incident or has any information about the youth involved, please get in touch with us.”
