MP Margaret Ferrier has come under fire again after she reportedly gave a church reading with coronavirus symptoms.

It emerges a short while after the Rutherglen representative confessed via a Facebook post that she had breached Covid-19 rules by travelling from London to Scotland with the virus last week.

It became apparent over the weekend that she had also "visited beauty salon and gym" on same day she took a the Covid-19 test.

The Daily Record now reports that the SNP MP had also given a church reading at St Mungo's in Townhead 24 hours after she began to develop virus symptoms.

Labour MSP Monica Lennon described her actions as "selfish and dangerous".

She told the Record: “Not even a place of worship was safe from this MP’s selfish and dangerous actions.

“There is no end to Margaret Ferrier’s recklessness. The SNP must terminate her membership and resign her seat.”

Numerous political figures inside and outside the SNP have made calls for the Rutherglen representative to stand down after it emerged she broke the rules.

Ms Ferrier said in a statement on Thursday there was “no excuse” for her actions, as she said she had travelled to the House of Commons while awaiting test results and returned home – both by train – after she had been told she was positive.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is among those calling for her to stand down as an MP, describing her actions as “dangerous and indefensible”.

An SNP spokesman said: “The actions of Margaret Ferrier have been completely indefensible.”
